As an event coordinator, one of the best ways I can give back to my community is by partnering with local organizations to throw fun events to help raise money. Last year, I had the fantastic opportunity to work with The H.O.N.E.Y Bees in helping them raise some much needed funds for new uniforms.
The H.O.N.E.Y Bees are a national championship winning double dutch squad, led by Takeria Clark. Their mission is to empower young people through their love of double dutch. I’m a huge fan of this organization, and the youth involved are so incredibly smart, talented and motivated. They’ve certainly earned a special place in my heart!
I reached out to the kind folks at PORTA to see if they’d be willing to sponsor the event, and they emphatically said YES! Big shout out to Marianne & Isabel for help making this happen! The creative chefs at PORTA invented the Honey Bee Pie — proceeds of the pie that day went towards our fundraising efforts. Our event took place on the Newark Ave pedestrian plaza, and we had TONS of community engagement — including visits from Mayor Fulop and other local officials! It was a warm & sunny summer day, and i’m proud to say we raised over $600 for their new uniforms. A huge thank you to MJC Photography for taking photos of this beautiful day.
I’m always looking to partner with local organizations and non-profits on events like this, so please reach out and say hey, let’s raise some money! Check out more of the photos of the day below...
